Raag Shankara

Introduction – Raag Shankara belongs to the Bilawal Thaat and is an Audav–Shadav raga. All the swaras used in this raga are shuddha (Natural). In the ascending scale (Aaroha), Rishabh (Re) and Madhyam (Ma) are omitted, while in the descending scale (Avaroha), only Madhyam (Ma) is omitted.
The Vadi swara of Raag Shankara is Pancham (Pa) and the Samvadi swara is Shadaj (Sa). This raga is traditionally sung at midnight. Raag Shankara is also considered to be closely associated with Bilawal Thaat in terms of its tonal structure and mood.
